Bisley Lock-up

One of the two cells
Lock ups  held  persons overnight who, in general, had committed minor offences whilst awaiting release or commitment to  the House of Correction. The pictures show the Bisley Lock up as it is today.

Originally it had heavy oak doors with the only light to the cells being through the iron grill above the doors.  The front walls were much higher. The two cells provided little comfort for their occupants.

The house of Correction for Bisley was at Horsley near Nailsworth.
