Edgar Kilminster , born in Chalford in 1860 was a soldier for many years. Later he used to repair shoes. In 1923 he married Gertrude Hirons and they sold drapery around  the villages, carrying their wares  in two suitcases. In 1925 they moved to this shop in Bisley.

Gertrude, who continued to run the shop after the death of Edgar, is in the top photo and the lower shows Doreen, in front of the shop window through which you can see  a wonderful array of items.
